At the centre of the exhibition is the figure — as presence, image, and bearer of meaning. The works approach the figure from different perspectives: as an expression of personal experiences and memories, as portrait and encounter, as fragmented body, or as a transformed and imagined form.

The title At First Sight refers to the first moment of perception — to immediate recognition and to what reveals itself only upon closer observation.

Across painting, drawing, and sculpture, the figure is observed, remembered, altered, and reimagined. It emerges from personal experience as much as from imagination and an open, intuitive working process in which chance and unintended forms play a role. In this way, the boundaries between the recognisable and the transformed, the familiar and the unknown, begin to shift.

As the gallery’s opening exhibition, At First Sight also offers a first insight into Galerie RANG’s programme and its future exhibitions.
